OTTAWA, Oct. 9, 2012 /CNW/ -Cathedral Arts will present Autumn Rhapsody featuring Louise Pitre, “Canada’s First Lady of Musical Theatre”, on Saturday, October 20that 8:00PM, at Christ Church Cathedral Ottawa, 420 Sparks Street. The programme will include a tribute to the great Parisian songstress, Edith Piaf, and selections from Mamma Mia!, Les Misérables, and other Broadway shows.
Louise Pitre won the hearts of North Americans as the star of “Mamma Mia!” and as the original Donna Sheridan at the Winter Garden Theatre on Broadway, where she held the role for the first two years of its run, earning her a Tony®nomination. She has starred in countless musicals including “Piaf,” “Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris,” “Sweeney Todd,” “Song and Dance,” “Annie Get Your Gun,” and“Blood Brothers”, and in many television and film projects -“A Christmas Wedding”, “Celine” playing Celine Dion’s mother, “MVP — The Secret Lives of Hockey Wives” .
This past summer, she starred in Mame at the Goodspeed Opera House. Jerry Herman, the writer, gave his personal blessing for the show to be performed with Louise starring in the title role – something he does not do lightly!!! She is currently the host of the series “Star Portraits” on Bravo, and a judge on the CBC Television series “Over the Rainbow”.
This Concert will support The Ottawa Citizen Literacy Foundation.
