The Very Reverend Shane Parker, Dean of Ottawa, has announced that Christ Church Cathedral Ottawa at 420 Sparks Street will hold a special Choral Evensong on Sunday, September 9th, 2012, at 4:30 PM to mark the tenth year of the Cathedral Arts programme.
“The Cathedral is a place that promotes the arts, enables thoughtful dialogue and raises public awareness for special causes as part of its Outreach Ministry. Cathedral Arts has increasingly become an important part of this ministry”, said Dean Parker, “achieving this through its thought-provoking lecture series, distinctive concert programming and its regular collaboration with local charities”.
The Offertory will be donated to the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF), for the Sahel Crisis Matching Fund, to assist West Africa’s Sahel Region where a debilitating food crisis is unfolding in nine countries because of a severe drought, poor harvests and rising food costs. Eighteen million people are affected in Chad, Niger, Mali, Mauritania, Burkina Faso, Senegal, Gambia, Cameroon and Northern Nigeria.
