Cathedral Arts is pleased to present James Calkin in his debut cathedral recital on Sunday, January 27th at 2:00PM, at Christ Church Cathedral Ottawa, 420 Sparks Street. The programme will include works by Krebs, Kellner, Bach, Howells and Widor.
James Calkin is the Associate Music Director of Christ Church Cathedral Ottawa and Choir Director of the Cathedral Girls’ Choir. Mr. Calkin studied at Dalhousie (B.Mus. with a University Medal) and McGill Universities (M.Mus.) and at the prestigious Eastman School of Music. He has been the recipient of peer-adjudicated grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, the Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD), and the Nova Scotia Talent Trust, and received numerous academic awards at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
His concert activities include numerous recitals in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Denmark, and Germany, and he has given distinguished performances on the English and French networks of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.
